History & Impulse
Under the auspices of the Robert Bosch Stiftung
The International Alumni Center - iac Berlin - was established on December 14, 2016 with the Robert Bosch Stiftung as sole shareholder. It officially commenced operations in January 2017, led by Darius Polok as managing director, who is an alumnus of the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
Networks are both a strategic approach and powerful instrument for positive social change. The iac Berlin was founded to support the development of networks in the non-profit field, to serve as an open platform for new forms of cooperation in philanthropy, and to develop and disseminate an approach to alumni work that encourages and spreads positive social impact.
The term "alumni" refers to those people who were supported by a foundation or other public or non-profit organizations and still feel connected to these institutions. Alumni are therefore partners of the foundations who once supported them. They continue to contribute to positive societal change after the conclusion of their respective programs. The iac Berlin acts as a support for the alumni and their activities and provides them with tools, knowledge and available resources.
"We regard alumni as partners and co-creators of peaceful, fair, and forward-looking societies. By setting up iac Berlin as an open platform, we want to help former scholarship holders, funding recipients, and foundation employees come together as a global network of people who drive change and shape society."
says Professor Joachim Rogall, Chief Executive Officer of the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
The iac Berlin now coordinates the Bosch Alumni Network, which brings together former and current fellows, grantees, and staff members of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and its partners, to support their activities and foster cross-sectoral exchange and international collaboration. It also coordinates the Global Diplomacy Lab. The services of the International Alumni Center are also open to employees of foundations and other non-profit organizations.
